First, you will need a Word doc with a few images in it.  CHECK!

Step 1

Add .zip to the file name of your .docx file, like I showed you in our earlier tutorial.

Step 2

Double-click the .zip file you just created and navigate to the Word subfolder and then the Media subfolder.

Look! There are all of the embedded images.

Step 3

Press CTRL + A to select all of the images. Then, drag and drop the images to another folder, such as the Desktop.

Step 4

Enjoy your extracted Word doc images.

This is by no means is the only way to save images from a Word document, but I find it to be the easiest. This is especially useful if you’re running a slow computer that has a heart attack whenever you open a Word document with dozens of images and pictures embedded. The caveat is that it only works on .docx files created with Microsoft Word 2007, Word 2010, Open Office and LibreOffice.  If you have a .doc file, your otta luck.  No love for crusty versions of word sorry.
