Before you get too excited, there is one small thing to note. Typically, groovyPost only focuses on and recommends freeware to all our readers. Microsoft Math, unfortunately, is not Freeware, and it costs around $20. There IS a 30-day free trial you can use but yeah, it’s not free. Sorry. Now, back to the review: In Worksheet mode you can enter any equation you like, and Microsoft Math will give you a solution. The calculator on the left contains functions and numbers, or you can manually type out your equations. If you don’t like using the keyboard, you can enable drawing mode and write your equations. Once you’ve solved your equation, you can automatically graph it, or just continue writing equations that are tracked on your worksheet.
When you enter graphing mode there are a variety of things you can do; draw functions, modify equations, insert data sets, define new parameters, plot inequalities, and track individual graph axis and changes. Geometry has met its match!
If you’re looking to graph a more challenging equation Microsoft Math supports 3D graphing as well.
A groovy built-in tool is the Triangle Solver. With the Triangle Solver, you can enter the known parameters of a triangle and then it will automatically solve and fill in the remaining sides and angles. To help you to be able to visualize the math, an accurate triangle figure will be generated using your inputs.
Probably the most useful part of Microsoft Math is the Solution steps. Whenever you solve an equation, a dialog will be available that will explain the process used to solve the problem. If the equation took multiple steps to solve, then each step will be displayed and explained, much like a teacher or textbook would advise.
