As promised, Microsoft made available Office 2010 Professional Plus for download for all MSDN subscribers yesterday. If you have a subscription, you can grab either the x64 (64-bit) or x86 (32-bit) which are both around the same size (700 megs.) As I installed my copy last night, I quickly discovered you would need to uninstall the Office 2010 beta if you happen to have it installed. Just something to keep in mind....

According to the article, they were made aware of it being built back in November and they just confirmed they managed to get their hands on it for a little test spin. Groovy! As expected, the interface looks a lot like OneNote which was released earlier for the iPhone and the iPad. Apparently Office however will also have a look and feel based on the new Metro UI, used on Windows Phone and Windows 8 (which makes sense, since the Windows 8 Consumer Preview is coming in a few days)....

The new versions of the apps include a more slimmed down material design interface. Buttons and toggles are nice and big, making the apps great for touch input. Collaboration, built-in formulas (for Excel) and full control over presentation transitions and effects are just a few things you can expect. Having in mind that the apps are nearly identical to their desktop counterpart, they could easily become your full time Office replacement when carrying a laptop isn’t an option....

Important: Microsoft has recently reorganized the Insider program. The Fast ring is now known as the Dev Channel. The Slow ring is now known as the Beta Channel and Release Preview ring is now known as the Release Preview Channel. Some of the new features in today’s release include Theme-aware tiles in Start. “We are freshening up the Start menu with a more streamlined design that removes the solid color backplates behind the logos in the apps list and applies a uniform, partially transparent background to the tiles,” writes Microsoft’s Brandon LeBlanc....

Recently I built a new x64 or 64 Bit Windows Server 2008 machine. I wanted to install the new Virtual Machine Manager 2008; however, I needed a way to mount the ISO image because it was an ISO. A few months back, I wrote a tutorial on mounting ISO Images for Vista and XP using Virtual Clone Drive. Unfortunately, Virtual Clone Drive doesn’t support 64-bit. If you have music loaded on the local drive on your computer or device, right click a favorite song or album and select Pin to Start.
