Opera is the only well-known browser that Facebook could actually acquire. According to Pocket Lint’s sources, Facebook is planning to buy Opera Software, the company that makes the Opera browser. Then a few months later, Microsoft upped the storage again to 30 GB for mobile users. Over the past few months, Google has been cutting over more and more of its services to HTML5. YouTube’s Mobile site, for instance, was cut over back in July and before that they added drag-‘n’-drop attachments to Gmail for Chrome and Firefox. Well, now Google has added Safari to the list to its GMAIL drag ‘n’ drop for attachments, further increasing its feature set and leveraging the new HTML5 capabilities....

To get started, install the Panic Button extension for Chrome. The PanicButton icon appears next to the Chrome address bar. To hide all tabs, click the PanicButton icon and it hides all the tabs and will turn green. It also displays the number of tabs hidden. Click on it again to reopen all of the tabs. Yesterday Google updated Cloud Connect to include a new menu that will open Google Docs files directly from Microsoft Office. This means you don’t have to haphazardly download and scavenger hunt for the correct file to work on. Now, all of your stored Google Docs files are accessible from the Cloud Connect toolbar itself. Nice. The “Open from Google Docs” menu will automatically list all of your documents stored in Google Docs, and Google even cleverly included a search box to help you find documents should your list prove too long....

What did Google do, exactly? Well, according to Bloomberg BusinessWeek, quoting a person familiar with the matter, Google used cookies that went over Safari’s tracking blocker preferences in order to track users between sites and deliver them targeted advertising. Google (of course) denied any wrongdoing in a statement, saying that the FTC’s focus was on a 2009 help center page, which has been changed since. It’s also said that it had taken measures to remove the ad cookies, and that the cookies didn’t collect personal information....
